Not only during the pubs... but between the different channels... & sometimes i even wonder whether a kid at the control station is not playing with the sound!
Well... it turns out... i'm getting repetitive strain injury at using the remote rather than using my mobile!

I think there is indeed a kid out there playing with the sound. sometimes it keeps declining during a movie and when the ads are launched it comes really loud. maybe they do this to ensure that you are really watching and not sleeping

100% true sa. Mem parfois au milieu ene film volume la augmenter ou baisser considerablement.

mbc does not suck, it is the programs broadcast that suck and i doubt anyone has noticed this in the mbc staff. btw it's strange that they invest in huge antennas to yield such a crappy quality at the end

I got your point Fadilnet. But the organisation in itself does not suck. The service needs to be revamped, that's all... I know the revamping is the most difficult task, I agree. But for a long time (more than 50 years) MBC has provided a service of a relatively good quality, it is quite recently that people are starting to feel that the 100 rupees we pay every month is too much.

you can't revamp the services without:
1. firing up people
2. train more people
3. massive investment in new tech
4. conduct surveys all around the island and NOT forgetting corporate tv audience and kids
5. add more channels online - offer streaming facilities. get listed on miro..wait the local productions don't like miro (getmiro.com) for they want money and not popularity.
6. reform the anchorwomen - they wear too much make-up. gosh, provide us with text if possible and get rid of those chicks who deface the screen.
7. buy more british shows and consider sci-fi
8. stop the censorship thingy. provide description of the programme. i believe we are good enough to pick the right programme for the kids etc.
9. stop the mbc-government love story. be impartial and send competent journalists on the field to investigate and not just to cover events.
10. don't forget about our ole' folks - it's good to revive past movies which made their youths.
11, 12, 13 -- there are a lot more that can be done - post the ideas and discuss

to stay on-topic, mbc cannot play an influencial role in politics and hence cannot enlighten the mauritians who clearly don't want to be enlightened and are easily blinded.

I think that what anarchist says has some relevance. MBC has already invested a lot to reach where it is today. They just need to reform the service. i know that reforming the service in itself is a huge task but it is better than setting up a new station altogether. at one time I heard of a rumor about Radio Plus launching its TV station. was that correct?

yup but the project was scrapped.
do you know what can really work? - someone buying streaming rights @ MT (myt service) and streaming one's own tv channel (or more). it costs less, adverts bring money and the amount of viewers may increase over time if it gets thing right.
the whole airing digital over air medium is kinda passe.

hope someone does it soon
