What makes you like a blog?
The question is, what makes you like a blog and want to visit it regularly and sometimes leave behind comments?
I would like to know all the factors that make you like a blog. They might be factors which play a big role in your liking of a blog and they may be conscious as well as unconscious ones. For instance, you might visit a blog regularly simply because you love the author's style or you may love the layout.
Let me know what appeals to you.

Re: What makes you like a blog?
1. The quality of the content (that's obvious!)
- originality
- author's views
- sense of humor
- frequency of posts
2. The layout (i like minimalism & unique layouts, web 2.0 style)
3. The time it takes to load. (I hate it when there's too many ads)
4. There may be more factors that makes me like or dislike a blog, but i can't remember all of them.

Re: What makes you like a blog?
The topics of the posts are the most important for me...(put a poem with words that i don't understand and u've successfully scared me already)
I like to laugh, so if some1 put funny stuff/jokes that i have not already read, you get a thumb up from me
I enjoy reading 'nonsense' from people, and everyone has his own style of nonsense writing and thats what make it all more interesting :p
And of course, as carrot said, frequency of posts is very important, i hate it that i check often, and there is only 1 post in a month :S or even less...
[i feel rather exhausted merely by thinking of the procedure i need to perform for commenting on blogspot-based blogs, cause i have to select the appropriate radio button and all...]

Re: What makes you like a blog?
yeah i think originality really counts. Originality in style, it might be the author's wit or sense of humour like carrotmadman said.
i love original topics too. something out of the ordinary. i also like factual stuff, which are very well presented.
the layout does not really matter as long as its appealing in its own way

Re: What makes you like a blog?
Hmmmm....
The style of writing... That would be the first thing that would make me go back to a blog.
The originality <<--- Though you may be writing about topics already covered by others, show that you have smthg different to offer.
Topics covered: it gets a bit boring if you go back and have to read about the same things yet again.
Sense of humour: a good laugh is sometimes important
Frequency: fek laem m ti p plaigner ki m pna narien pu lir -.-
Layout pa trop... m pa tro care a propo sa and... hmmm... c tou je crois

Yeah, it's true Blogger has the worst commenting system... Why can't they make it like Wordpress??
One of the reasons why i don't like commenting on Blogger blogs ( well, since i use Blogger myself... it's a bit ironic!)
But i did found a template that copied the comments-page to the main post, but the end-result wasn't really good... I think all Blogger blogs should spam Blogger, asking them for a more straight-forward commenting system.
Re: What makes you like a blog?
Though blogger lags in terms of providing a good quality comment form I still prefer it to other blogging platforms. Blogger is ideal for search engine optimisation and this can really help in gaining relevant traffic to your site/blog. It has been noticed that Google favors blogger blogs in search results. Have those using blogger noticed that?
Re: What makes you like a blog?
i receive about 30 referrals from google search daily which is approx equal to 50 -75 page views. but the search results leading to my blog are sometimes irrelevant.
Re: What makes you like a blog?
Yeah, it's true that Google indexes Blogger blogs faster & they have a higher rank in searches.
That's bcoz Google hosts the Blogger blogs at their HQ in Mountain View, so they can easily update their indexes whenever someone updates their blog.
Half of my traffic comes from Google searches...
& btw Blogger is definitely the most reliable of all blogging platforms... coz it's backed by mighty Google - & they'll never go out of business!

Yeah... adopted child. Coz Google bought it.
Re: What makes you like a blog?
hmm interesting...but frightening as well...guess what, google is the next microsoft :S (and soon u will see an anti-google movement who will fight for our freedom from google ; ironically microsoft may become a precious ally to the freedom fighters)
Re: What makes you like a blog?
Mo penser blogspot so commenting system korek acoz kan n dimun envi comment li click lor * comments et li gagne n page kot pna oken template. Li paret couma n lounge si zot gete bien. To gagne tou ban comments et to cav fer to comment.
N lot ti point. Avan mo ti ena n blog lor blog.com et mo pa ti p repon ban comments. Mai aster ar blogspot mo gagne limpression ki mo bizin repon. Jar dimun la p atan n reponse acoz sa lin comment.

Re: What makes you like a blog?
I somewhat agree with Jevin on this. Moreover I think that whatever the blogging platform is, as long as someone has "taken the pain" of reading and commenting a post of any of you, it is a sign of courtesy to go back to the commenter's blog (if ever he/she has any) and to comment back.

I was more referring to commenting on your own posts to reply other comments.
Re: What makes you like a blog?
The commenting and returning comments policy is a very important one in building and maintaining blogging relations. It is very important for any blogger who wishes to make his/her blog known in the "blogosphere" to have good blogging relations with other bloggers.
Blog commenting and participation is a way of courteously promoting your blog, provided that you don't spam other blogs with only a link and a sort of "visit me" message.

Re: What makes you like a blog?

Re: What makes you like a blog?
Yeah, it's a sort of courtesy to reply to all comments posted on your blog. Just like someone saying Hello to u, u need to Hello them back...
Re: What makes you like a blog?
hmmm, ena ossi going to the person's blog and commenting relevantly on a post.
mai enfin a chacun son policy! lol

Re: What makes you like a blog?
I personally think that it is better to go to the commenter's blog and leave a comment in return of the comment he/she left on your blog.
Sometimes when someone leaves a comment on your blog, it is difficult to reply back and you can't just say things like "thanks for the feedback" or "thank you for visiting and commenting". The best thing to do is to respond to a post on the person's blog.
