Re: Blogger or wordpress?
The main disadvantage of Wordpress is that you have to pay for every little thing. These include adding widgets, modifying templates and incorporating your own domain to your actual account amongst others.
The fact that it provides additional pages is very good. This makes blogs look very close to websites.
I think that most people tend to switch to Wordpress because blogs get more hits there. I attribute this to their very active community. Try to post something on their community. Include your link as well. You will notice a considerable rise in your hits.
Why do you think WP is better, carrotmadman6? You can switch to Wordpress and redirect your Blogspot link to your Wordpress one. Its very simple and it works.

Non, c'est faux.... I personally think Blogger blogs get more hits than Wordpress since they have higher page rank in Google. That's why i'm staying with Blogger!!
If you are really good at CSS, xhtml... you can port almost any template from WP!morinn wrote:blogger amene 1 ta google searches to your blog! ek kav met 1 ta widgets, sans oublier modify templates.
Sa normal sa - péna plis ki bon ki Wordpress pou fer en blog lors to server. That's why i think WP is better!slasher wrote:Mo trouve wordpress pli bon a condition zot host li lor ene dedicated server.
Re: Blogger or wordpress?
wai mai pena okene built-in hit counter dan blogger. ek dan wp ena sa. akoz sa li dificile pou gagne vraimen gagne 1 accurate value lor blogger.
for instance, statcounter montrer plis ki 215 page views per day, alor ki sitement lor 150 parla. li weird.
carrotmadman, seki to personally think, des fois li kav fo ossi

Re: Blogger or wordpress?
Before this debate turns into a heated argument, I would like to point out that from my experience and observation of the blogging scene since the past 5 years, it can be affirmed that self-hosted and wordpress blogs receive relatively more hits than blogger blogs.
Google sure brings searches to blogger blogs but regular readerships are usually formed for WP blogs since the easy comment form acts as an incentive for visits and subsequently comments.
I do not say that successful blogger blogs are impossible. But they are relatively rare.
To conclude, statistically, WP blogs do receive more hits that blogger blogs. However, I am not considering individual blogs. I am talking of the general figures. Normally a beginner wp blog will seem to be more successful that a beginner blogger blog.

Yeah, it's true that Blogger blogs definitely receive more *search* hits due to Google/Blogger's policy of tolerating all types of content on Blogger blogs.(translating into greater StatCounter hits)
However, with WP being more user-friendlier, most WP blogs get RELEVANT hits (unique visitors) that eventually build-up to a regular readership.
Hence WP blogs can be considered to be more successful since they attract more relevant hits than random hits - which is the case with Blogger.
& btw one more disadvantage of WP is that they won't allow AdSense ads on their WP-based free hosting.

Re: Blogger or wordpress?
blogger rocks, big time!
there is no denying it...
we don't need to own our own domain or have to pay any changes to have access to the source code!
for students n freeloaders, blogger is then ideal! only prob for some is that you need some basic knowledge of css, html, javascript...the whole nine yard!
but that should be ezy even for them beginners!
