The death of a blogger
did it ever happen to you, that one of your favourite blogger dies?
i was a regular reader of this blog: http://gardenerinmexico.blogspot.com/
and some weeks ago i learnt that the author, Andee Carlsson has passed away due to a heart failure. i was really shocked. you know sometimes you just take things for granted and just don't realise that life has an end. the good part is that our thoughts will remain somewhere on our blogs even after our death, unless the blogs are deleted by the host.

Re: The death of a blogger
*sad*
In 2004, a mod @ sci-fi channel board of forums died - (recall the snow storms that year hitting US.) We all lost our mojo when we learnt the news
But blogs never die - there will always be someone close reviving it and as long as the entries are mirrored and hosted, people shall keep on reading them.
In our wills, make sure you pass on blog to someone who shall keep on blogging after you encounter death, for your blog is worthy of being a legacy.
Re: The death of a blogger
Yes indeed. I'll make sure to pass mine to my kids. Our blogs are portions of our life now.
Re: The death of a blogger
Yeah I remember you told me about that morinn. There was also another blog. The woman was younger and I think she was in an accident. Her husband made a post to tell what had happened. Remember you showed me that?
Re: The death of a blogger
yup. that was sadder. I don't know why i always land up on those things it's really saddening
Re: The death of a blogger
i think it would really affect me if a blog author with whom i was familiar died. sometimes some blog posts bring a little joy in life. it would be sad if the person behind it is no more.
Re: The death of a blogger
Quite shocking.. Happens though. Specially when you are used to reading a blog, and see something like that happens. You just go ...

Re: The death of a blogger
Personally I don't like the idea of having my blog on the net after my death
There should be an auto-deletion option, where the blog deletes itself if the owner doesn't login within a certain period of time (1 or 2 months)

Say that you are in hospital for 2 months... & when you get home, u find that ur blog is deleted!
Actually, there should be a "kill" switch option... so that when u mail/sms that code (from your deathbed), the blog gets deleted!

I forgot to mention that, before deletion of the blog, an email will be sent to one of your family member warning him about the deletion. And if he don't reply to this mail, it means that they accept the deletion of the blog
The problem with Carrotmadman6 system is that if you get a direct free ticket to heaven/hell, you won't be able to press the kill switch
Re: The death of a blogger
My system requires the presence of a will as well....
A will can be considered anything that starts with "I want ....." that could have been written on any physical medium:
- at the back of your diary
- in your sms inbox
- in your To-Do notes
- in your mail
- on toilet-paper... etc.
